Serge Poliakoff mastered the nobility of colors and textures, giving his works a particular sensuality, exalted by the pink chromatic variation, a rare color in his work. This luminous shades of pink, whose tones vary from orange-pink to garnet and powder pink, translates the process familiar to the artist, that of the modulation of colors on a fundamental tone. It is compared to that of the opposition of colors, yet here, the distinction is blurred by the insertion of a wheat yellow heart, delicately contrasting with the adjoining soft pink.
Poliakoff constructs a harmonious interlacing of cut silhouettes, dominated by warm colors. This is the source of the formal rhythm of its composition, where the intensity of the material takes precedence. The work is similar to a living and vibrant organism, whose essence is captured in the flesh.
