The landscapes of the Dolomites play a major role in Zoran Mušič’s work, particularly between 1960 and 1970, when he developed a series devoted to rocky terrain and mountain landscapes. In "Becco di Mezzodì", the artist reduces the landscape to its essential elements: lines, masses, and variations in texture come together to create a stripped-down, silent vision of the mountain.
An iconic work in this series, it was among the pieces most sought after by Mušič’s early Parisian collectors, who were drawn to this representation of the landscape that is at once austere and poetic.
