The landscapes of the Dolomites feature prominently in Zoran Mušič’s work, particularly between 1960 and 1970, when he developed a series devoted to rocky terrain and mountain landscapes. In ‘Becco di Mezzodì’, the artist reduces the landscape to its essential elements: lines, masses and variations in texture combine to create a stark and silent vision of the mountain.
An iconic work from this series, it was particularly sought after by Mušič’s early Parisian collectors, who were drawn to this austere yet poetic representation of the landscape.
