Harry Eliott, whose real name was Charles Edmond Hermet, was born in the 19th century and left a unique mark on the world of French illustration. A talented draughtsman and illustrator, he was also a recognized painter, particularly skilled in watercolor. His work is distinguished by its particular style, often imbued with nostalgia and rural charm.

At the beginning of the 20th century, Harry Eliott illustrated numerous popular magazines of the time, such as "Nos loisirs", "Mon journal", "Le Sourire", and "la Revue Illustrée". His illustrations, characterized by their finesse and humor, quickly captivated a wide audience.

A lover of hunting and horses, Eliott captured the essence of these themes in his prints, becoming a sought-after artist among enthusiasts of these subjects. His works reflect an idealized rural world, filled with scenes of hunting, equestrian races, and bucolic landscapes.

Harry Eliott also made his mark in the field of children's literature. Working for the renowned publishing house Hachette, he illustrated several books for the Bibliothèque verte collection, thus helping to spark the imagination of many generations of children.

From 1923 to 1940, he illustrated catalogs for Manufrance, a famous French mail-order company. These catalogs, very popular at the time, introduced a wide audience to his lively and detailed illustrations.

In addition to these catalogs, Harry Eliott also created some covers for the monthly magazine "Le Chasseur français", bringing his personal touch to this iconic publication of the rural and hunting world.

His work, combining impeccable technique and artistic sensitivity, has transcended decades, retaining freshness and charm that continue to enchant. The quality of his line and his talent for depicting rural life of his era with humor and tenderness make Harry Eliott an essential figure in French illustration.

Discreet in his departure, Harry Eliott's work remains a precious testimony of a bygone era and continues to be sought after and appreciated by collectors and art lovers.
