Follow Cleon PETERSON
Born in 1973, in Seattle into a family that encouraged artistic practice, the young Cleon drew a lot to occupy his time during multiple hospitalizations due to his asthma, like Matisse beginning to paint during a convalescence. As a young adult, he moved to New York, where the art scene was in full swing. He trained in graphic design, from which he retained an incomparable visual efficiency. After a few existential wanderings, he joined Shepard Fairley's team in California, another key art scene since the 1960s.
His work has been shown in memorable solo exhibitions, such as the Abattoirs in Toulouse. For the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, he created a monumental fresco on the theme that has occupied his practice for many years: the struggle of men, the violence of the world, all in a graphic style inspired, among other things, by Greek vase paintings.
