Born in Barcelona and settled in Paris, Emilio Grau-Sala developed a luminous and refined style of painting, heir to Impressionism and to Bonnard. Gardens, interiors, and light-bathed female figures form the core of his world. In this lithograph, a young girl in a hat stands amid lush vegetation in which flowers, foliage, and touches of bright color intermingle. The figure seems to merge into the setting, forming with it a single colored fabric. The work expresses the gentle art of living and the poetic sensitivity that made the artist's reputation.
