A figure of postwar figurative painting, André Minaux belonged to the "Homme-Témoin" group, which championed an art rooted in human reality. The nude and the studio, essential themes of his work, come together in this lithograph: a standing female figure, rendered as a silhouette in ocher tones, rises at the center of a space built from vertical planes. Dark uprights, curtains, and colored surfaces structure the composition with great rigor. Between bodily presence and architectural construction, the work reflects the gravity and sobriety characteristic of the artist.
