Liberté des libertés is a project by the Catalan artist to illustrate the collection of poems by writer and poet Alain Jouffroy (1928-2015), published in 1971. The book contains four original color lithographs and one color etching on a black background, all signed by the artist.

It's a dialogue between two politically committed, freedom-loving men. In the 1970s, Miró continued to transgress the boundaries of art. The etching on a black background, which stands out from the other lithographs, expresses the artist's quest to rediscover an archaic language. It is the symbol of writing that penetrates the unconscious, of primal gestures freed from conventions, knowledge and rules. The motifs relate almost to childhood - the childhood of the world, not that of the artist," writes art critic Michel Leiris.

The lithographed plates present an alphabet of Miró's graphic elements in the colors recurrent in the artist's work: blue, red, green and yellow. The changing configuration of these elements from one plate to the next forms a narrative that can nevertheless be broken at any moment.
