Alleluia evokes a luminous architecture, like a rose window shattered by divine lightning. The colors come together without ever freezing, in a tension between apparent chaos and secret order. Manessier, nourished by the light of stained glass and sacred music, constructs here a meditative space, open to the invisible. Nurtured by the experience of stained glass and Gregorian chant at Solesme Abbey, Manessier here transposes religious fervor into luminous abstraction. Like the stained glass windows of a church, this lithograph seems to be pierced from within by a vibrant clarity. Each flash of red, blue or yellow responds to a pulse, an inner, sacred rhythm.
