Etching, aquatint and burin on zinc
BFK Rives paper
From the book "Parmenide", Dialogue by Plato, French text by Pierre Albert-Birot, 8 original engravings by Serge Poliakoff
In this artwork, a mineral pink verging on beige, salmon, and pale earth tones dominates. It is a difficult shade, discreet, almost reticent, yet Poliakoff manages to make it vibrate with rare depth. Each nuance seems to be carefully placed, in a silent breath.
The composition is organized without rigidity: no orthogonality, no symmetry. The shapes fit together in a gentle, almost organic tension, as if balance were born of imbalance. An architecture without axes, but perfectly mastered.
