Pablo Picasso depicts a female body performing an acrobatic feat that is both precarious and controlled. The exaggerated limbs give the gymnast a central presence. Around her, a constellation of faces observes the scene, establishing a relationship of interdependence between the central figure and those watching her. The latter introduce an element of voyeurism, characteristic of the Series 347, where the gaze plays a full part in the construction of the image.
