Henri PLISSON

Biography

Henri Plisson, born in Saint-Gaultier on 20 September 1908 and died in Paris on 9 November 2002, was a French painter, ceramist and teacher.

Son of the butcher Paul Plisson and his wife Henriette Lucas, Henri Plisson was the great-grandnephew of the composer Emmanuel Chabrier (1841-1894). Through his mother and her brother he was the uncle of the painter Paul Bougeois, who lived in Mexico.

He studied at the Montmorillon college, then enrolled in the higher drawing courses and the classical courses of the City of Paris. He was admitted to the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris in the studio of Lucien Simon (1861-1945).

He became a drawing teacher at the ABC School of Drawing in Paris. He was appointed official painter of the Navy in 1973 and vice-president of the autonomous union of professional painters.
