Yellowing, a few small tears in the margins
The orange hue that dominates the composition is not a colour chosen by default, but an entire season condensed into a single shade. Bissière treats autumn not as a subject to be depicted, but as an atmosphere to be inhabited: the slightly melancholic warmth of withered leaves, a moment suspended between the fullness of summer and the barrenness of winter. The black lines temper this brilliance and lend it a sense of gravity, whilst the white highlights capture the pale, golden light that filters through the undergrowth at this time of year.
