In La Paix universelle (Universal Peace), Chu Teh-Chun unfolds an abstract composition in which forms appear to converge and intertwine in a free-flowing, vibrant movement. Whilst sweeping black curves traverse the composition with a spontaneity reminiscent of calligraphy, broad strokes of green and grey lend it depth and fluidity. Through this interplay of movement, balance, spontaneity and harmony, the artist poetically conveys his aspiration for peace. Far from suggesting stillness, peace emerges as a coming together of differences, a reconciliation of opposing forces and a quest for universal unity.
