Surrealist Explorations offers the opportunity to discover prints by major artists such as Max Ernst, Joan Miró, André Masson, Roberto Matta, and Wifredo Lam. By exploring dreams, the unconscious, and automatism, these artists pushed the boundaries of reality. In parallel with the Surrealism exhibition at the Centre Pompidou, this exhibition highlights the importance of printmaking in the Surrealist movement, presenting lesser-known works that provide a different perspective on the Surrealist universe.
It will take place at the Marais gallery, located at 53 rue de Turenne, with a joint opening on Thursday, November 28th, starting at 4 p.m., and will run until December 8th. A thematic display of prints and lithographs by Sonia Delaunay will also be presented as part of the tour in the Saint-Germain district gallery.

A century ago, André Breton unveiled the Surrealist Manifesto, a work that defines the core principles of one of the major artistic movements of the 20th century. The writer described it in these words: "Pure psychic automatism by which it is proposed to express, either verbally, in writing, or in any other way, the real functioning of thought. Dictation of thought, in the absence of all control exercised by reason, outside of any aesthetic or moral concern." In the continuation of Dadaism, artists explore what lies beyond reason and conventions: the imagination.
