Very good condition
In Vallauris, Picasso discovered in Suzanne Ramié’s Madoura studio a place conducive to experimentation. There, he rediscovered ceramics, a medium he had set aside for several decades, and began to explore new formal possibilities.
With its anthropomorphic silhouette, Pichet espagnol is rooted in a Mediterranean imagination shaped by the artist’s Iberian origins. The motifs, painted and incised on the light-colored clay, recall both the popular pottery of his childhood and the spontaneity of his line. At the boundary between functional object and sculpture, this pitcher asserts itself as a work of art in its own right.
