Poliakoff develops an abstract approach in which color plays a central role. From black to gray and then to deep midnight blue, the hues unfold to create a sense of depth and continuity. The incandescent red breaks this apparent balance, bringing energy and intensity to the composition. This dialogue between calm and tension gives the work its expressive power and reflects an intuitive approach to painting, characteristic of the abstraction of the École de Paris. The surface thus becomes a living space, where each color finds its place in relation to the others.
